The British Nehemaih Grew published two volumes of plant micrographs, noting the difference between cell walls and cytoplasm in plant cells. The German H. von Mohl studied plant protoplasts and published "identifies protoplasm as the substance of cells." The German J. von Suchs discovered the chloroplast. British T.H. Huxley introduced the concept of plasmonics to the British public for the first time in a speech entitled “The physical basis of life” in Edinburgh. The German E. Strasburger proposed the concept of cytoplasm and nucleoplasm. Some people have seen the presence of granules in the chloroplast in response to the presence of flavonoids, suggesting that DNA may be present. In 1986, Ris and Plant used electron microscopy to observe chloroplast ultrathin sections of plants such as Chlamydomonas and Maize, and found that the lower electronic density of the matrix was about 0.1 nm in fine fibers. It disappeared when treated with DNase and proved to be DNA. The endoplasmic reticulum is a series of important biological macromolecules other than nucleic acids in cells, such as proteins, lipids (such as triglycerides) and sugar synthesis bases. Glossy endoplasmic reticulum also has detoxification functions, such as the smooth endoplasmic reticulum in liver cells contains some enzymes to remove fat-soluble waste and metabolism of harmful substances. The endoplasmic reticulum is present in a variety of eukaryotic cells other than the mature red blood cells of mammals.
